Delhi elections 2015: BJP vs AAP showdown — This time it's over newspaper advertisements

NEW DELHI: A day before Delhi votes to elect a new government, the two main contenders BJP and APP are locked in a war of words over advertisements in newspapers.

While BJP has accused AAP of resorting to 'casteist' ad to woo voters, AAP has objected to a full-page BJP advertisement highlighting achievements of Modi government.

BJP has raised questions over a full-page advertisement issued in favour of Arvind Kejriwal by Kamini Jindal Singla, MLA from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

"AAP is trying to communalize the elections in Delhi and get voters of particular community on their side," BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said.

AAP claimed that it had not issued the advertisement in question.

Meanwhile, Kamini Jindal defended the advertisement and said her party had ideological similarity with AAP as they were fighting corruption.

"We will extend whatever support AAP wants," Kamini Jindal said.

On the other hand targeting the BJP advertisement detailing the achievements of the Modi government, AAP leader Ashutosh said, "From where is BJP getting money to publish such ads? If such ads are not allowed in TV,then why are they allowed in newspapers?"

"Ads on front page of newspaper are worth crores,where is the money coming from? BJP must answer," said AAP leader Manish Sisodia.

Congress also took a dig at the BJP advertisement and said, "If its not a referendum on performance of Central Govt, then why such ads about all the imaginary work the Central Govt has done?" Congress leader Manish Tewari said.
