Chennai Express has broken the record of fastest 100cr film at the box office. The film has earned Rs 100.42 crores by Sunday (daywise breakup: 6.75 cr, Fri- 33.12 cr, Sat- 28.05 cr, Sun-32.5 cr) and entered the Rs 100 crore club in just 4 days. Thereby it has broken the record of Ek Tha Tiger which crossed Rs 100 cr mark in 5 days.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra said, "The paid previews may have prevented Chennai Express from breaking the first day collections... But the film breaks all records and is the first film to cross 100 cr in just 4 days.''
The other two films that have crossed the 100 cr mark this year are Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani reached the 100 cr mark in one week while Bhaag Milkha Bhaag entered the 100 crore club in 23 days.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Shah Rukh Khan visited cinema halls including Gaiety cinema, New Excelsior and Cinemax to thank the audiences.
