1. Modi, Obama cheered at Rajpath
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama were greeted with loud cheers as they arrived at Rajpath for the Republic Day parade on Monday.
Modi arrived at the saluting dais after paying homage to immortal soldiers at the India Gate and was received by defence minister Manohar Parrikar.
Modi then waved at the crowd and was greeted with loud cheers.
Obama arrived after him, with wife Michelle Obama, in his official car The Beast and was received by Modi.
As the two moved towards the glass enclosure erected for the VVIPs, Obama also waved at the crowd.

2. Barack Obama chews gum as parade marches on
In an ungainly sight, cameras caught US President Brack Obama chewing gum during the Republic Day parade on Monday.
In the picture captured by cameras and posted on Twitter by some users, Obama was spotted removing his chewing gum while PM Modi was seen trying to explain something to the US president.
3. BSF motorcycle stuntmen get thumbs up from Obama
US President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama looked impressed with what they saw during the Republic Day parade. Obama gave a thumbs up to BSF daredevils.
4. Obama arrives in own vehicle for R-Day parade
In a departure from tradition, the chief guest at the Republic Day parade, US President Barack Obama, on Monday arrived in his own highly-secured bomb-proof vehicle, 'The Beast,' at Rajpath.
The Republic Day chief guest normally travels with the President of India in his car from Rashtrapati Bhawan.
President Pranab Mukherjee arrived soon after. Since 2012, the President of India travels in a heavily armoured black Mercedes Benz S600 (W221) Pullman Guard. The armour is designed to protect against military rifle shots, bomb shrapnels and other explosives.
The Beast, based on a Cadillac DTS, is the first presidential limousine not to have a specific model name.
5. Special glass enclosure for Obamas
Obama and his wife Michelle sat in a special glass enclosure along with President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Hamid Ansari and his wife, and defence minister Manohar Parrikar and his junior minister Rao Inderjit Singh.

India witnessed the first march by women army, navy and air force personnel at the 66th Republic Day parade on Monday.
The first-ever woman's contingent to march at the Republic day parade was led by Captain Divya.
The contingent got a standing ovation.

8. Unprecedented security cover in Capital for R-day
The national capital was on Monday wrapped in unprecedented security blanket for the 66th Republic Day celebrations which was graced by US President Barack Obama as the chief guest.
A seven-layer security ring has been thrown around the VVIP enclosure on Rajpath from where Obama, President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of other dignitaries witnessed the grand parade.
More than 15,000 CCTV cameras installed have been relaying every movement live to a central control room where the footage has been monitored by a joint team of Delhi Police, US Secret Services and sleuths of central security agencies.
Anti-aircraft guns have been put on standby to shoot down any aerial intrusion.
No plane will be flying within a radius of 400 km of Rajpath as against 300 km on earlier occasions, they said. This means airports adjoining Delhi like Jaipur, Agra and as far as Lucknow or Amritsar will not operate flights when the function will be on in the national capital.
9. Spells of drizzle fail to moisten Republic Day celebrations
Spells of light showers on early Monday morning played spoilsport at the 66th Republic Day celebrations, where US President Barack Obama is the the chief guest. The Met Office has forecast intermittent rain throughout the day.
However, the rain did not dampen the spirit of the enthusiastic people, who reached Rajpath to witness the parade which showcases India's military prowess and cultural diversity.
Due to the security threat, people were not even allowed to carry umbrellas to the venue, and were seen covering themselves with their jackets and the programme schedule.
10. Obama, Modi declare era of 'new trust' in US-India relations
President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday declared an era of "new trust'' in the often fraught relationship between their nations as the US leader opened a three-day visit to New Delhi.
Standing side by side at the stately Hyderabad House, Obama and Modi cited progress toward putting in place a landmark civil nuclear agreement, as well as advances on climate change and defense ties.
