Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is a happy man. His 'Chennai Express' has collected a decent average of Rs. 33.12 crore on the first day its opening. This means that SRK-Deepika starrer 'Chennai Express' has moved ahead of Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' that earned Rs. 31.25 crore on day.

Figures collected from trade analyst Taran Adarsh and social media sites reveal that Rohit Shetty's directorial venture did wonders in box-office by making a record collection of Rs. 6.75 crore from paid previews across India. What is interesting to note is that this romantic-comedy flick has also beaten paid-preview collections of 3 Idiots at Rs. 2.7 crore.

Chennai Express has opened in approximately 3500 screens across the country on August 9. It benefited from the Eid holiday as people went to watch the movie in large number.

SRK is all smiles with this great response and thanked all his fans and well wishers in a press conference that he held at the compound of his Bandra bungalow Mannat.
