Bar raids: KKR cheerleader Sana, others detained
PUNE: The Pune crime branch on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old woman, who is a cheerleader for a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and her local female agent under the prevention of immoral trafficking Act (PITA). The two women were picked up from a four-star hotel in the posh Koregaon Park area after a decoy was sent to the cheerleader's room.
Senior inspector Bhanupratap Barge of the social security cell of the crime branch said the cheerleader, who lives in Mumbai, also takes up modeling assignments. "After receiving a tip-off that she was looking for prospective clients, we got the decoy to contact her agent, Seema Jagtap (34) of Pune, over the phone. Later, the decoy was sent to the cheerleader's room, which is when we moved in and got the women arrested. We have recorded the conversations the decoy had with both Jagtap and the cheerleader," he said.
Barge said the cheerleader had told Jagtap that she would charge Rs 1.5 lakh for two hours from prospective clients.
Investigations have revealed that the cheerleader, her mother and three friends, including a fashion designer, had come to Pune on Tuesday. "They stayed at a picnic spot in Pune district and were to return to Mumbai on Wednesday night," Barge said. On Tuesday, the cheerleader contacted her agent in Mumbai, who put her on to Jagtap. "On Jagtap's suggestion, the cheerleader booked two rooms in the Koregaon Park hotel - one for herself and the other for her mother and friends,
" Barge said. The case has been registered with the Koregaon Park police station.
Meanwhile, the social security cell on Wednesday raided a hotel on Alandi road and rescued four girls, including three minors, who had been forced into prostitution. The police arrested the manager of the hotel under PITA. A case has been registered with the Vishrantwadi police.
